The success of your wedding day depends almost entirely on those who attend. From the close friends who make up your wedding party to the distant cousins mom insisted you invite, everyone deserves a token of appreciation for participating in your big day.

Wedding party gifts are often a great expense so the money better be well spent. For groomsmen, buy a round at one of the more posh courses in town, or better yet bring the whole group to a Leaf’s game. They will appreciate this more than anything you can put a bow on. Follow the same guidelines for bridesmaids and try to plan a day you can all spend together. Book a spa day a week or so before the wedding and let the ladies choose which treatments they would like. If there is a particular cause or charity that is important to your family or friends then make a donation in lieu of gifts.

If you are on a limited budget, wedding favours may be an overwhelming expense. Enlist the help of the whole family and make homemade preserves or jams that can be beautifully (but inexpensively) wrapped. If Grandma is willing to share her famous tomato sauce recipe then send a sample of that home with guests.

In Ontario'’s rather distinctive climate, seasonal wedding favours are always a big hit. Purchase ice scrapers, umbrellas, caramel apples or fans depending on the date of your wedding, wrap them in some lace or ribbon and the gesture will surely be appreciated.
