On Christmas morning she was thrilled to find she had received a digital camera. John explained that he had taken the camera out of the box already and snapped a few photos to figure out all the features. Samantha appreciated the gesture, she was hopeless with technology and would need John to give her a brief tutorial in camera use. She flipped through the pictures he had taken. There was one of her family’s home, one of her dog, one of John himself, one of the Christmas tree they had put up together. The images then changed to pictures of hand written notes on Post-Its. The first said “Will”. The second said “You.” That was as far as Samantha got into the pictures. She was crying and John was down on one knee. Samantha F. “Dan and I had been together for seven years before we finally got engaged. I was in no rush, we knew we were spending the rest of our lives together but wanted to be professionally and financially quite secure before we married. When my much younger best friend got engaged, I grew a little impatient. Marriage became a big topic in our household and Dan knew it was time to commit. My birthday was coming around and we were going on vacation. The day before we were set to leave, Dan mentioned that his parents wanted us to come over for lunch, so they could wish me a happy birthday before we left for our trip. When we arrived at their home I was amazed to find both our families and all of our close friends there. I had just walked into to our engagement party. That afternoon, I finally got my ring.” Leslie M.
